KR Dance Ltd.

Based in the Truro/Falmouth area, KR Dance is an established school with over 25 years of Teaching experience offering classes in multi-disciplines including Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Contemporary. We aim to provide secure technical training and artistic development from the start, with performance and examination opportunities regularly offered. This is all in a caring, enjoyable and nurturing environment.

We offer classes at Kea School near Truro, Carnon Downs Village Hall, and we are delighted to be able to base our Senior-level classes at AMATA at Falmouth University - a state of the art Performance Centre with sprung dance floors, air-conditioned studios, full facilities and cafe.

Ballet

We offer classes from the age of 3 years, teaching the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance from Pre-Primary (approx the age of 5) through the Grades up to and including Grade 8. The early years classes are non-syllabus, fun, and imaginative classes working towards technique and control.

We also offer classes in the Vocational Levels from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2. These levels introduce and develop pointe work. All levels of Graded Ballet include core stability training and stretching as well as fundamentals and vocabularly training.

The Early Years and lower level Grades classes are taught by Kathryn at Kea School and Carnon Downs Village Hall, and the Higher Grades and Vocational Graded Levels are taught by Amely at AMATA Performance Centre at Falmouth University. Please see Timetable for precise times. Contact us via email or send us the Enrolment form for fee information and appropriate class placing.

Jazz and Tap

Jazz and Tap classes are offered at all levels from 4 years and above. These are predominantly non-syllabus technique classes to broaden the vocabulary and ability. These classes also include conditioning, strengthening and stretch work.

Today's dancers need to be able to embrace all styles of Commercial, Lyrical and Street styles and we believe that by offering this sort of class students develop into adaptable and versatile performers. We also offer the opportunity to gain IDTA examinations and Medal Awards in both Tap and Jazz genres.

Contemporary

We are delighted to offer weekly contemporary technique classes taught by professional dancers from Cheap Date Dance Company. These classes are held on Saturday Mornings from 11am - 1pm at Falmouth University AMATA Centre. Classes are available to students from Year 4 (approx 8 years old) to Advanced. These classes are taught by Grace and Debbie and offer sound technique with strength and conditioning work, with opportunities to perform also offered. We believe that these classes provide our students with a valuable ‘extra string’ to their bow.

We have had many students successfully audition for both HFCYDC and Propeller training and performance scheme.

Performances

Shows held regularly - usually every two years, most recent show July 2016 -" Let’s Dance” held at AMATA in Fal Uni in July. Four performances across 2 days involving the whole school and featuring all styles of dances and also musical theatre. Also the contemp classes featured in a Platform at the Uni. Theatre trips are also regularly organised. Auditions - interested students are advised an helped to prepare for auditions, both for professional vocational training or for youth dance companies.
